“What a beauty! This Aquila Cabernet Franc from Nightfall Wines glides with ease. There is an unmissable precision as it seemingly floats through the mouth. The layers of interest cascade from the glass as every sip reveals something new. The detail is most impressive. Black fruits and berries swarm. Blackberry paste, tomato leaf and spearmint leaves fold into one another. A little earthiness kicks up before cedar and sandalwood express the time spent in oak as soft pillows of cocoa powdery tannins dry out ever so slowly leaving a puckering finish. And that length! Wow. This will age gracefully and continue to improve – it’s an excellent wine.”

“100% cabernet franc from vines aged on average 30-plus years. Matured in 100% new French oak for close to 24 months. A seductively scented wine showing off cabernet franc’s enticing blackcurrant and bilberry perfume. Some pansy and cracked pepper berry. A slice of Gala apple and torrent of fresh acidity. Tannins are fine, silty and just pick up the dotted red fruit that is scattered throughout. A very chic wine with persistence. The Taransaud oak just glistens here, adding sparkle to the stage.”
