Description
Dense dark purple colour in colour, with a classic Coonawarra bouquet of black current, cherry and sweet vanilla oak characters. The palate demonstrates a classic ‘dry red’ style with rich midpalate fruit and density, balanced with fine Cabernet tannins and length.
A warm summer with clear nights helped to provide further concentration of colour and flavour in the grapes with an early April harvest. The individual parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot were picked on separate dates and fermented separately in a selection of small stainless steel vessels.
Each ferment was pumped over twice daily for enhanced extraction of flavours before being pressed they were transferred to a selection of French and American oak featuring 20% new oak. Each parcel was matured for 20 months before barrels were individually selected for the final wine.

“Sweetly fruited and complex, the bouquet shows blackcurrant, spiced cherry, floral and vanillin oak characters with a subtle touch of mixed spice. The palate delivers succulent fruit intensity and plump mouthfeel, finishing harmonious and delectable. A beautifully polished red. At its best: now to 2032.”

Very good colour, youthful and bright with a solid tint of purple. The bouquet holds cassis cabernet and toasty-cedary wood characters, green-leafiness from the cabernet franc, while the palate is firmly tannic and salty/savoury. The mid-palate is a little hollow and there is a slight lack of fruit sweetness. Leafy and tobacco aftertaste. A savoury, drying style of cabernet that’s starting to show secondary developed characters. Very good drinking.

“Coonawarra ripe black currant and sweet vanilla honey toasted bread oak notes. The palate has a fleshy soft ripe middle palate with a generosity which has very fine cabernet tannins and is a classic “dry red” style of full bodied firm finish red wine style.”
